Bellwind (1985) for free-bass accordion 9' published by Edition Wunn, Germany [performed by Stefan Hussong]
Bellwind was composed as one of a series of pieces for the ‘other’ keyboards: accordion, organ, harpsichord. For the composer the accordion has an almost magical expressive power. With the bellows it seems to be more than an instrument: it becomes a living and breathing being. In the hands of an outstanding interpreter like Stefan Hussong, the rich colour palette, subtle nuances of tone and harmonic and polyphonic capabilities are fully animated. Bellwind develops in quasi- wave motion with alternating passages focusing on harmonic change and fluctuations, and passages that emphasize speed and fluency.
